This is the first post on this blog, and I figured I'd use it to explain how the blog itself works, since it's a little unusual.
No CMS
There's no database and no admin panel here. Every post is just an .mdx
file — Markdown with the option to drop in real React components when I need
something more than plain text. It's the same pipeline the project writeups
in the showcase section already use, so adding a post is as simple as adding a
file.
Why this instead of a CMS
I don't need a CMS for a site this size, and I'd rather write in Markdown than fight with rich text editors and their "smart quotes." Since a post is just source code, it also means posts can freely mix prose with embedded demos, diagrams, or anything else a normal React component can render — like the video and image components already used in the showcase writeups.
Anyway — that's the whole trick. More posts to come.
